Rules and Regulation

Game Rules

A) Match Mode

1) 1 vs 1 Melee

B) Detailed Game Rules

1) Category: Melee

2) Mode: 1v1

3) Game Duration: Infinite

4) Game Speed: Faster

5) Locked Alliances: Yes

6) Game Privacy: Normal

C) Match Obligations

1) Promptness: 

(i) Players are required to be physically present at least thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled start of their series. Players not ready to play will be subject to penalties and may even possibly incur match forfeiture.

(ii) Players must use the same in-game name found in the records or official documents in The Nationals. Variations, pseudonyms, or other names are strictly prohibited.

(a) Players must follow the following format for their in-game name: Franchise.Moniker|IGN

2) Forfeits ñ Players may not voluntarily forfeit without prior authorization from the organizers and, even with said authorization, are still subject to penalties due to the forfeiture itself.

3) Professionalism:

(i) No other gadgets are permitted inside the playing area.

(ii) No other applications may be open on the game PC other than those permitted by referees (DOTA 2, Steam, and Discord).

(iii) Absolute professionalism is expected for in-game chat and player decorum.

4) Pauses, Disconnection, or Hardware Malfunction:

(i) In case of any unforeseen or accidental disconnections, the referee shall restore the match using the game's replay system. The referee has the right to decide on the point of restoration with a 3-5 second buffer from the disconnection.

(ii)After the game officially starts, if the in-game latency is deemed unplayable by a referee, the game is to be paused and will go through proper protocols to resolve any issues.

(iii) Should the in-game latency be deemed unplayable after proper protocols are conducted, a referee may deem it necessary to pause again and evaluate the situation or call for a match restoration.

(iv)  A player may initiate a pause but must inform referee of the reason. Unauthorized or unreasonable pauses may merit a disqualification or forfeiture of game. 

(v) A player cannot disconnect on purpose without prior approval for the admin or use any illegal methods to cause disconnections.

5) Coaching:

(i) Players may designate one (1) individual to be their coach during each Tournament. Players may consult with the coach for a maximum of one (1) minute in between Games in a Match. Deliberately giving or receiving advice to/from any other person during a Game or Match is not allowed and may result in penalties for both parties.

6) Cheating:

Any cheating, as determined by the Tournament Organizers in their sole discretion, will result in an immediate forfeiture and additional penalties depending on the severity of the infraction.

7) Names, Logos, and Branding Restrictions

Tournament Organizers reserve the right to reject, in their sole discretion, names, logos, avatars or branding that violate the Code of Conduct, including without limitation, any that:

 Infringe upon the rights of any 3rd party rights without explicit written permission

 Resemble or are identical to a brand or trademark

 Resemble or are identical to another identity or person

 Resemble or are identical to the name or persona of League Entities or other Players.

8) Dress Code

All Players must wear appropriate attire at the Tournament. Jerseys and all other attire worn at the Tournament are subject to the restrictions set forth in C.7 above.

9) Penalties

Players who break the rules in this document are subject to penalties including (but not limited to) the following:

 Match Restart

 Loss of Game

 Match Forfeiture

 Removal from the League

 Temporary Player Bans

 Permanent Player Bans

Any penalties imposed on a Player may be made available to the public by the Tournament Organizers in their sole discretion.

D) Hardware

1) Players are permitted to bring their own hardware (limited to keyboard, mouse, and mousepad) for their games. Players must be assisted by an Administrator to install their hardware.

(i) Once installed, players may test their equipment prior to the official match.

2) No external software will be permitted to be installed. 

E) Best-of-X per round

1) All matches preceding the 6-player single elimination playoffs are played in best of 3.The 6-player single elimination playoffs, quarterfinal and semifinal matches are played in best of 5 while the finals is played in best of 7.

F) Ties in standings (used in group stage round robin formats)

1) In case there are participants finishing with the same score, the participants shall be ranked according to this priority: 1) total best of 3 wins, 2) map score, 3) direct best of 3 wins among tied, 4) direct map score among tied, 5) one round of decider matches in best of 3, 6) coin flip

G) Map selection per match

1) Maps and map order to be played in each match is determined through a veto process between the two participants playing in the match under supervision of an appointed match referee. Before the veto process is started, a coin flip is done to determine priority. Winner of the coin flip decides who to go first.

i) In best of 3 matches, players take turns banning maps from the pool until 3 maps remain. The alternating sequence continues with the players picking the maps to be played from the remainder. (Ban: ABAB, Pick: ABA, coin flip winner decides who is A)

ii) In best of 5 matches, players take turns banning a map from the pool until 5 maps remain. The alternating sequence continues with the players picking the maps to be played from the remainder. (Ban: AB, Pick: ABABA, coin flip winner decides who is A)

iii) In best of 7 matches, players take turns picking maps from the pool until all maps are picked. (Pick: ABABABA, coin flip winner decides who is A)

2) The map pool is the active Ladder (Versus 1v1) map pool

H) Victory condition

1) The winner of a game is the player that destroys all of their opponent's structures or the player who has their opponent type "GG", "gg", or "good game" as a sign of surrender.

I) Draw condition

1) A game is declared a draw if all resources on the map are exhausted and both players are left with no means of achieving victory.

2) In case of a game going to a draw the following is applied: 1) if the game time has not reached 20 minutes, a rematch of the game shall be held, 2) if the game time is past 20 minutes, the verdict will be decided using the in-game score, and the player whose score is 20% higher than the opponent shall be declared victor, otherwise a rematch will be held.

J) Race Lock

1) Participants are required to always play with the race of their choice upon registration.
